Maintenance
of Lake – Chennai Corporation
Currently, there has been a talk gyrating
around the marketplace concerning the maintenance of civic infrastructure,
lakes and other things. The recent talk is about the correct safeguarding of
Velachery Lake which is almost in a bad situation. As per the words of Chennai
Corporation, it is said that the pond is under the control of PWD (Public Works
Department), but the civic body takes up the duty by themselves regarding the
maintenance since immediate protection is required to protect local residents
from mosquitoes and also to prevent the pond from damage. Statement of
environmental activist is given that the quality of water is good here so, the
respective authorities should take steps and stop people releasing untreated
sewage water and other waste products. The government is too late in providing
these facilities since a real estate developer named Amarprakash has already
installed latest facilities that will not let out untreated sewage. This is
done as a safety precaution for the society and the residents. This latest
installation has stopped up customer’s from complaining Amarprakash builders
completely and there is no way to say Negative Amarprakash developers feedback at any cost.
Discussing the Velachery pond, the corporation has also planned to convert it
into a tourist spot by providing walkway, boating and landscaping but
environmentalist made the civic body to drop that plan.
